A safer world for all

Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions

Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels

The most relevant targets in terms of fighting violence against LBT+ persons include:

  • ‘Significantly reduce all forms of violence and related death rates everywhere’.
  • ‘Promote the rule of law at the national and international levels and ensure equal access to justice for all’.
  • ‘By 2030, provide legal identity for all, including birth registration’.

However, as with the 2030 Agenda in general, there is no explicit mention of LGBT+ persons. Despite this, there is certain language which can be harnessed to make sure LGBT+ are included, especially the promise to ‘leave no one behind’.
