Health
Introduction

WAFE is a not-for-profit non-governmental organisation that was founded by two individuals with a passion and determination for women of various sexual orientations and gender identities in Zambia.

Who

Established in October 2015, WAFE has a mandate to increase and improve the identification and participation of women who have sex with women (WSW), lesbian, bisexual and transgender women.

2015

Established in October 2015

Vision

A Zambian society where women of all diversities have their human rights protected.

WOMEN

All diversities have their human rights

WAFE’s aims and objectives

Women have been underrepresented in the mainstream lesbian, gay, bi and trans (LGBT) movement. WAFE was formed to bridge the gap so that women equally participate and benefit from the amazing work currently being done.

Some of the work they do:

  • Improving access to health
  • Awareness campaigns
  • Capacity building
  • Documentation of human rights violations and abuses.
  • Creation of safe spaces for lesbian, bi and queer people
