Introduction

Black Queer DocX (BQDX) is a grassroots feminist collective aimed at amplifying the voices of lesbian, gay, bi and trans people in Botswana.

Who

They focus on advocacy, research and documentation on the experiences of non-normative sexualities in Botswana.

Why

Their work aims to build evidence-based knowledge on the experiences of lesbian, bi and trans women, non-binary and gender non-conforming people.

Vision

A transformed and inclusive society where everyone is treated equally and with dignity.

Black Queer DocX (BQDX) aims and objectives

The strategic directions:

  • Research and documentation: their areas of research include sexuality, sexual and reproductive health and rights and socio-economic issues faced by women and other marginalised groups
  • Creation of learning spaces to confront, interrogate and address a myriad of issues faced by lesbian, bi and trans women and other marginalised groups.
  • Advocacy and campaigning at the local level all the way to the international (UN) level
